Several bombings that occurred in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on early Sunday morning have left seven bombers and a security guard dead. Two police officers and two civilians injured, according to the regional public security department.
The explosions occurred at 2:30 AM in Kuqa County, southern Xinjiang. Witnesses say home-made explosives hurled from within a taxi hit the local public security station as well the industrial and commercial office.
Kuqa has a population of about 400,000 people, and is about 740 kilometers from the regional capital of Urumqi. Local security has been tightened and an investigation is already underway.
