Marianne Vos of the Netherlands cries after winning the gold medal in the women's track cycling points race at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Vos was the world road race champion in 2006, and only started competitive track cycling last year. She won the world points race title in Manchester, England, five months ago and now has the Olympic title to go with it. Vos says she remained confident of winning Monday's event, even after missing out on the medals in the road race.
Marianne Vos says "Of course I was disappointed but I just focused on the next race and I knew I was in good form. And I never really had doubts."
Vos was overwhelmed by the hundreds of supporters who came out on Monday night to celebrate her victory.
Marianne Vos says "Yes, it's difficult to share. It's so big and so many people in this building to yell for you, and to share the feeling of the winning race, it's incredible. You can't describe it."
With the hard work over, Vos is ready to do some celebrating—and there are plenty of Dutch fans in Beijing keen to party with her.
