A lack of snow hasn't prevented Australia from holding its own dog sledding national championship.
Australia doesn't have the vast winter landscapes of Europe or North America.
But no snow means no worries for these keen Aussie mushers. And their ingenuity has drawn international attention.
Jerry Joinson, a north American musher said, "I've never actually seen a cart race or a scooter race before and I'm enjoying it very much. My wife is trying to convince me to build her a cart or a scooter so she can take some of our dogs out."
Instead of traditional sleds, the bigger classes use three wheeled contraptions with custom made bikes and scooters used in the smaller categories.
