Zhang Mingjia is a traffic volunteer at the Olympic Park. His job is to record cars coming and going. Despite working ten hours a day, Zhang never seems to lack energy. As well as keeping track of vehicles, he also answers visitors questions.
Volunteer Zhang Mingjia said, "I also serve as language help. I encountered lots of difficulty, this experience is really worthwhile."
College students like Zhang are a main source of volunteers due to language barriers. It is a golden opportunity for them to have head-on communications with the world. They will treasure this experience for the rest of their lives. And many of them have a better understanding about volunteer work.
Volunteer Zhang Qian said, "I learned more about volunteer service by being a volunteer myself. It is not popular in China yet. I get plenty of pleasure from helping others and seeing smiles on their faces. I will pump more energy and time into volunteer service in the future."
The approximately 44,000 volunteers are assigned to work in more than 2-thousand posts at 43 Paralympic venues. Among the services they provide are information consultation, interpretation, transportation, security, medical services.
