Sinlaku made landfall before dawn on Sunday, but quickly turned and headed back to sea. Sinlaku's outer bands will continue to bring rain and strong winds to the island and parts of the Chinese mainland.

Taiwan's disaster relief center confirmed one death and 14 injuries, mostly from falling objects. But several other people are still missing. In some mountainous regions of the island more than 100 centimeters of rain fell in the past two days. Many international flights were delayed for hours, while domestic flights were canceled.
