The spokesman of the Beijing Paralympic Village, Deng Yaping, says the village has accommodated over 7,000 distinguished guests and athletes from around the world. Almost 2,000 of them are wheelchair users. She says everything has gone extremely well at the village.
Deng Yaping said, "We have received absolutely no complaints during both the Olympics and Paralympics. We are making Olympic history."
Deng Yaping says it only took staff just over a day to convert the Olympic Village into a barrier-free Paralympic Village.
Village workers pay close attention to details in providing services, and this approach has won the praise of athletes and other Games delegates.
The Paralympic Village has accommodated only half the number of people as the Olympic Village, but the high service standards remain the same.
Deng Yaping said, "It is a challenge to achieve a good ending in the last few days, but we are very confident. I hope what is left for the future is not only the Olympic venues, but also the Olympic spirit."
The workload is about to increase for staff as the village prepares to close, but they are confident they will do a great job, right to the end.
