The Pingyao International Photography Exhibition opened on Friday with a local performance featuring drums.

Over two thousand photographers from nearly forty countries entered the exhibition, submitting over twenty thousand photos.

The Pingyao International Photography Exhibition opened on Friday with a local performance featuring drums. The theme of this year's event is "Olympics and Love". It aims to celebrate the Olympic spirit of friendship, progress, harmony and aspirations. And it also portrays the spirit of the public during China's recent disasters: the snowstorm in the country's south at the beginning of the year, and the Sichuan earthquake in May.

The photos depict the Olympic torch relay, and Olympic competitions. The pictures also show moving moments of Chinese people's courage and solidarity in the aftermath of the snowstorm and earthquake.
