Following the successful launch of China's Shenzhou 7 spaceship, scholars in the United Kingdom have voiced their appreciation for the mission. They say the successful launch not only showcases the rapid progress China has made in science and technology, but also embodies China's courage to take on any challenge.
Jonathan Nicholla, Registray of University of Cambridge said "That is clearly a sign of the huge step forwards, so we know the remarkable success that Chinese people gained in the fields of technology and science. And you know that is a great signal to the world. I think that China has made remarkable strides, and I hope very much that event like that will actually give the world new insights and discoveries which I'm sure will be the case. And I come from the University of Cambridge, we value very much of the links with your top universities as I'm sure you'll do with us. It's a link of partnership which will ensure we all work together for science and technologies which will be for the best of the world in the future."
Sir John Boyd, FMR. President of Churchill College of University of Cambridge said "Of course it is a very important moment for China to be mastering this kind of technologies as well. But it is not surprising because that you did demonstrate the world of the great work. China has been full of inventions and full of techniques and skills for many centuries. So I'm not surprised."
Douglas Hurd, FMR. British Foreign Minister said "China is joining the group of those who are pioneering in space. This is not bringing benefit immediately to people but it is part of a great expansion of knowledge which China has always pioneered. "
