A display of Beijing's symbolic handicrafts proves fascinating even for those who have lived here for many years. This marks the first time made-in-Beijing cultural heritage has been showcased at the book festival. There are bristle figures, flour figurines, embroidery and homemade kites.
Eight craftsmen were invited to showcase their works at the event. The exquisite works are not created from valuable materials but from everyday items, like the peels of shallots and garlic.
The lectures and live events featuring folk culture and handicraft-making lends an added attraction at the book festival. After visitors examine the books they want to see, they are able to take part in some interactive activity.
