Ticket prices for tourist sites in Tibet have been slashed in an effort to boost tourism this winter.

The Tibet tourism bureau said on Thursday that this is the first time that Tibet has reduced admission prices at nearly all its tourist sites. Reduced prices will be in effect between October 20th and April 20th.

Admission fees at most major natural and cultural spots will be reduced by half. But it will still cost 100 yuan to get into the world-famous Potala Palace in Lhasa. Plans to raise the admissions price for the palace to 200 yuan have been scrapped.
