Zhu endured high wind and heavy snow to shoot his award winning photograph. Like Zhu, many wildlife photographers have to spend many months in the wilds to obtain the shot they are seeking.
This leopard in snow, shot in the mountainous regions of India, earned the award for "best wild life photographer" for Steve Winter. The picture was selected from tens of thousands of pictures he shot during six and a half months in the region.
15 year old girl Catriona Parfitt from the UK is named the "Best Young Wild life Photographer". She chose her work from among eight thousand pictures she shot during three weeks in southern Africa.
The annual Wild Life Photography Contest is jointly sponsored by the London Museum of Nature and History, and BBC Wild Life magazine. Thirty-two thousand pictures were submitted for the competition. The winning photos are on display at the London Museum of Nature and History. Next they will go on a world tour.
