One of China's most prestigious modern dancers and choreographers - Jin Xing - has set out to prove that a modern dance version of the 'Peony Pavilion' can still be suitable for a modern audience.

The play took Jin Xing nine years to conceive and choreograph at her Jin Xing Dance Theatre. Jin plays the ghost of Du Liniang where the two heroines - both past and present - perform on the stage.
As China's most internationally famous modern dance artist, Jin says she hopes to wake up an "inner sensation" within the audience. And also help modern women everywhere realize that they too share some of the similarities and qualities of the heroine.
Jin Xing has been absent from the Beijing stage for eight years. But she is still remembered for her poetic and dynamic body language, powerful enough to touch the eyes, ears and soul of the audience.
