China's first jointly-funded civilian helicopter production project has held its signing ceremony. The first batch of civilian helicopters is expected to roll off the production line by the end of next year.

The project is designed to manufacture 200 helicopters a year and realized profits and taxes of 1 billion yuan. The joint venture will produce low-cost light helicopters that can be employed in emergency rescues, airborne traffic control, and forest protection.
