Asian designer Vivienne Tam mixed fashion with charity, to auction panda-inspired outfits in Beijing to raise money for quake-affected pandas on Monday.

Chinese singer Li Yuchun attended the auction held for the quake-affected pandas.

The New York based fashionista returned to her native China with five specially-designed outfits, each the only one of its kind. Proceeds from the sales of the outfits will go to the earthquake-ravaged Wolong Panda Reserve in southwest Sichuan province.

Models paraded Tam's designs up and down the catwalk as audience members cast bids starting at 30,000 yuan. The winning bidders appeared unfazed by the global economic woes, spending a total of 190,000 yuan on the one-off collection.
Pandas are regarded as China's national symbol, fondly known as China's "little ambassador" and the quake-hit pandas were closely followed by national media. Wolong Panda Reserve lies just 30 kilometers away from the earthquake epicenter, deep in Sichuan's mountains.
