David Beckham said for the first time on Wednesday that he would like to quit LA Galaxy in the United States and make a permanent move to AC Milan.
The 33-year-old moved to Italy during the U.S. close season on a two-month loan deal. Calls for Beckham to stay at Milan have grown since he scored two goals in his first five starts for the Red and Black. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder also said playing for Milan would enhance his chances of another World Cup with England in South Africa next year.
David Beckham, on loan to AC Milan, said, "At the moment, you know, I've expressed my desire to stay at AC Milan now and it's just down to Milan and Galaxy to come to an agreement. So hopefully that will happen...I want to have a chance of being involved in 2010 and I believe obviously my best chance of doing that would be by staying here. But, like I said, it's out of my hands now. I hope it can be sorted. But we'll see."
