Chinese photographers were in the spotlight this week, when the results of the 52nd annual World Press Photo Contest were released. They won three first prizes, two second prizes, and a third prize.

Wu Xiaoling from the Xinhua News Agency received the top honor in the sports feature singles category, for a photo featuring Judoka Jean-Baptiste at the Beijing Olympics. Zhao Qing from China Youth Daily won the sports feature stories category.
Chen Qinggang of the Hangzhou Daily won the top honor in the category of spot news singles, for a photo of an earthquake survivor in Beichuan county, Sichuan Province.
Among other Chinese winners are Fu Yongjun from the Urban Express, Zhao Qing from the Shenzhen Business Daily, and Li Jiejun from the News Express.
The winner of the world press photo of the year was American Anthony Suau, for a photo shot for Time magazine about the effect of the US economic crisis.
