Senior Chinese government officials have promised to disclose detailed expenditures of the country's four-trillion-yuan stimulus package.The Vice Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission -- Mu Hong -- says the commission will release information about the expenditures on its website and accept public enquiries.
Mu noted that the government budget and infrastructure construction projects are set on an annual basis. Therefore, specific spending details could only be released after they are approved by the National People's Congress. Details of how the huge amount of money in the package would be spent has been under thespotlight of the Chinese public for months. Millions of netizens have asked the commission to release details on the massive spending plans. That's because they are concerned with possible fund misuse, corruption and potential effects on macroeconomic control.
