Lv Tingjie, Professor of Beijing University of Posts & Telecom said "In fact, the issuance of 3G licenses to the three operators actually implies adjustments of market structure. So the current changes are inevitable."

China Mobile currently has 450 million 2G network users, while China Unicom and China Telecom have 130 million and 30 million, respectively. China Telecom says it's planning to increase the number of its cellphone users to 100 million within one to two years. China Unicom has also announced similar plans.

Experts say this indicates China Mobile's dominance in the market should be halted. And for consumers, it also means more choices and better services.
