In Shanghai, urban dwellers are delighted to have a new destination for springtime outings. The Peach Blossom Festival has opened in the city's suburbs.
The Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival opened in Nanhui district in Shanghai on Monday. The opening was attended by Zhao Wen, vice mayor of the city. Over the weeks to come, the 30-hectare peach orchard will welcome visitors from far and near.
Peach trees are blossoming early this year, thanks to higher than usual temperatures.
Organizers of the festival have prepared a series of fun activities for tourists. As well as watching local operas and acrobatic performances, tourists can go rustic and mingle with local residents. The festival will last for 20 days.
