During the meeting with Lee Myung-bak, Wen Jiabao said China and South Korea should enhance exchanges and cooperation in all fields, in a joint effort to boost the strategic cooperative partnership and overcome the current difficulties.
To achieve these goals, Wen offered a three-point proposal:
First, both sides should maintain a balanced increase in bilateral trade and oppose trade and investment protectionism.
Second, the two countries should strengthen cooperation in finance, implement the bilateral currency swap agreement and expand foreign currency reserve pools.
Third, the two countries should strengthen cooperation under the G20 framework and push for reform of the international monetary system, giving a greater say and more representation to emerging economies.
Lee Myung-bak said his country is willing to boost economic and trade cooperation with China and maintain contacts and collaboration on reforming the international monetary system.
