Over 1200 athletes took part in a 10km run at the London Olympic Park on Sunday. It was the first competition to be staged in the park that will host events in the 2012 games.

1984 Olympic javelin champion Tessa Sanderson organized the run. The race gave the runners a chance to see work at the Olympic Stadium site, and observe other developments in the park first hand.
Germany's Florian Nerschwander won the race in a time of 30 minutes and 14 seconds.
