In Turkey. At least 44 people have been killed in an attack on a wedding in the southeast of the country.
Local station NTV quoted Deputy Governor Ferhat Ozen of the Mardin province as saying the night-time attack with grenades and automatic weapons occurred in Bilge village near Mardin.
Other reports have said the attack occurred in Sultansehmuz village also near Mardin. NTV said the motive for the attack was a feud between rival groups of pro-government village guards.
They have been fighting alongside Turkish troops against Kurdish rebels for years.
Heavily armed Turkish police and soldiers set up a road block near the scene of the alleged attack as the area was locked down late Monday.
