No new confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu have been found in Hong Kong. Hundreds of people remain quarantined at a hotel in the SAR after a hotel guest was diagnosed with the virus.
The quarantine has trapped 350 guests and employees inside the Metropark Hotel, one of two hotels sealed-off after the virus was confirmed in a Mexican visiting Hong Kong. All of those inside the Metropark Hotel are reported to be healthy and Hong Kong officials say the quarantine is a public health measure.
Professor Gabriel Leung, from Hong Kong Under-sec. for Food & Health, said, "The major public health objective at this point in time is to contain the epidemic, is to contain and completely interrupt the chain of transmission. And that's why we have imposed a very stringent measures including the quarantine order at Metropark hotel and at Lady Maclehose in an attempt to interrupt all chains, all possible chains of transmission in the community."
