Ma also confirmed the seven-day quarantine of 25 Canadian students in Changchun, capital of northeastern Jilin Province. The quarantine began on May 2nd when they arrived, the same day that Canada confirmed 51 cases of A/H1N1 infection.
Ma says all of the students expressed their understanding. The local government had informed the Canadian embassy in China of the quarantine the next day.
Ma said, "The students were being treated well, and the authorities had made favorable arrangements for their residence, food and health care. "
Ma also says China and Mexico are in close contact regarding the virus and their bilateral relationship.
