The central court of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will hear charges against two U.S. journalists in early June.

North Korea said Thursday, May 14, 2009, it will try two U.S. journalists held in the communist nation for nearly two months on June 4.

Euna Lee and Laura Ling were detained in March inside the DPRK's border with China. They work for U.S. media outlet Current TV. The KCNA news agency says they are accused of illegal entry and unspecified "hostile" acts. The charges carry prison terms of up to 10 years. The United States has called for them to be freed and says it is in touch with the DPRK using various channels to secure their release.
