The Houston Rockets came back from the shameful forty-point loss to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in Game Six of the Western Conference semifinals on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Lakers continued their good momentum, defeating the Houston Rockets on Thursday. With the victory, the Lakers advance to the Western Conference final.
Luis Scola engined the Rockets to a 6-0 run early in the first quarter. By contrast, Kobe Bryant was unable to find his pace. Aaron Brooks added a 3-pointer to enhance hosts' lead to 13-1.
The Lakers focused on scoring inside the field, but not as good as expected. Rafar Alston helped reduce the gap with two 3-pointers in a row. But Houston still led the game 27-15 after the first quarter. The hosts kept their momentum, as Von Wafer's 3-pointer ended the second quarter 42-25 in favor of Houston.
The Lakers saved some face as they managed to close the gap in the third. The Rockets' lead was reduced to nine point before the break. It became a see-saw competition in the final quarter, but the Houston Rockets smiled to the end as they leveled the semi-final series at 3-all. But the LA Lakers exploded near the end. They scored from inside and out of the field. 95-80, the final score. They will meet the Denver Nuggets in the western conference final.
