China's National Film Museum in Beijing has just received some precious films and movie props. The donated items span a wide range of history, from the 1920s to the current Cannes film festival.
Artist Yin Guangzhong has donated a copy of the late film director Joris Ivens's film "Rain" to China's National Film Museum. 24 years ago, Yin created a sculpture for Ivens' last documentary "A tale of the Wind". In return for the sculpture, the Dutch director gave the Chinese artist a copy of his most famous movie "Rain". Ivens has had many links to China throughout his life. He's visited China many times and made several documentaries, including "Comment Yukong Deplace les Montagnes".
Chinese actor Zhu Xinyun donated a symbolic red star to the museum. Zhu became known across China as a child for his portrayal of Pan Dongzi in the film "The Shining Red Star".
Zhu Xinyun, Actor, said, "It's the red star that I hold in my hands when I sit on the bamboo raft in the film. I want to display it in the museum and share the story with visitors. It's special for me."
China's National Film Museum was founded to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Chinese movie industry. Entry to the museum is free.
