The girl is the only known survivor from the passenger plane that crashed with 153 people on board. Earlier reports said a 5-year-old boy had been rescued alive from the sea. The 11 bodies have yet to be identified.
Comoros government officials say rescue operations have been slow and difficult, hampered by lack of equipment and very rough weather conditions.
The government is asking for help from the international community. The Airbus plane crashed en route to the international airport in Moroni, capital of Comoros, around 2 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
