The temperature in parts of southern China has been high for days, while rainstorms have hit regions in Sichuan Province and Chongqing municipality.
On Saturday, the Wuhan Meteorological Center issued an alert, as the city's temperature climbed above 35 Celsius for the sixth straight day.
Hot weather has also swept across Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangsu and Anhui, with temperatures of 35 to 40 Celsius. Meanwhile, Sichuan Province and Chongqing municipality have been hit by rainstorms since last Thursday.
More than 100,000 people have been evacuated.
