Widespread heavy rains that began on Thursday have triggered landslides and floods in central China's Hunan province, leaving dozens of people dead or missing and displacing hundreds of thousands.

Local authorities say that as of Sunday afternoon, eleven people were killed, and 30 injured in Huaihua city. Between Sunday afternoon and 7 a.m. on Monday, precipitation amounted to nearly 38 centimeters in the city's Hongjiang district. The National Meteorological Center has warned of more rainstorms over the next few days.
