Days of rainfall also affected water supplies in the southern part of Taiwan. The water supply for 370,000 households was cut off.
The local authorities said it would take three days to one week to resume water supplies.
And, the latest statistics show that typhoon Morakot left the island with losses of more than 260 million US dollars.
People from all walks of life on the island are donating money and supplies to areas affected by the disaster.
The Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee has expressed its sympathy to Taiwan compatriots for their losses due to the typhoon. The message was delivered in a letter forwarded to the Kuomintang. The Office said it is willing to provide assistance in disaster-relief and reconstruction if it is required.
