The Chinese mainland sent its first batch of 100 prefabricated houses to Taiwan on Monday.
The second batch of disaster relief supplies will be sent by air Tuesday afternoon. They include more than ten thousand sleeping bags, 10,000 blankets and one thousand sterilizing machines. They will be transported directly from Beijing Capital International Airport to Kaohsiung in Taiwan, and are expected to arrive Tuesday afternoon.
A ceremony was held in Beijing in the morning. The Chief of the mainland based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, Chen Yunlin, and many other officials attended the ceremony. They expressed deepest sympathy for their Taiwan compatriots.
Wang Yi, director of Taiwan Work Office of CPC, said, "We hope this batch of relief supplies will reach the disaster hit areas without a hitch. And the Chinese mainland extends best wishes to all the people suffering due to the worst typhoon disaster in Taiwan."
