Continuing high temperatures in southern China has lead to drought in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan.
Some parts of Guangxi have had less than 10-millimeters of rain this month. Farm produce in more than 14 cities has been affected, and so has the drinking water supply. Conditions are very dry in Guangdong's Dongjiang River valley.
Mild drought has occurred in Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan where temperatures reached as high as 38 degrees Celsius. The National Meteorological Center says temperatures in the three provinces haven't been this high in 27 years.
