Escala is the string quartet who gained fame in the 2008 finals of the UK's hit TV show, "Britain's Got Talent". And this week, the group was in Hong Kong promoting their debut album, "Escala".

Escala is made up of violinists Victoria Lyon, Izzy Johnston, and Chantal Leverton, and cellist, Tasya Hodges.

The band's debut album fuses contemporary sounds with classical instruments. The tracks include "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin, Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars", and their signature tune "Palladio".

"It's just been such great experience. We just had opportunity to collaborate with amazing artists like Slash from Guns' N Roses on one of our tracks. So now we just feel very lucky."

The classically trained musicians formed the quartet after being recruited as part of a large string section for a UK arena tour by British band, Mcfly.

The four became close friends and decided to try their chances on the 'Britain's Got Talent' TV show.

"Britain's Got Talent" was widely criticized this year after runner up, Susan Boyle's very public breakdown after the finals.

But the quartet agrees that the show gives performers a platform and a chance at recognition that they would not normally have.

Escala's self titled album is out now.
