South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are holding talks about uniting families across the border. The three-day dialogue began on Wednesday and follows an agreement between Pyongyang and South Korea's Hyundai Group to boost joint ventures. The latest development would once again allow people separated from loved ones by the Korean war in 1950,to meet.
Delegates from Red Cross societies on both sides of the border held a preliminary meeting Wednesday afternoon in the DPRK's Diamond Mountain resort.
The three-day meeting, the first in 21 months, is aimed at arranging reunions of separated families in early October, This is the latest in a series of recent conciliatory signals that the North is sending to the South.
