Heavy rains have unleashed devastating landslides in quake-stricken areas of Sichuan Province. Mianyang, Chengdu, Meishan, and Leshan have been among the most severely hit.

Three hundred people were trapped by a landslide in Wenchuan County. Armed police and firefighters were mobilized to rescue survivors. So far, all the victims have been evacuated and damaged roads have been reopened.

Mudslides also destroyed roads in a key vegetable growing region, causing price hikes in nearby food markets.
