Religious groups in Taiwan gathered in Kaohsiung County to remember the victims of Typhoon Morakot. They offered prayers and wishes for people in the disaster-stricken region to recover soon.
Religion can't repair all physical injuries, but it can help heal spiritual wounds. This is the message that more than 20-thousand people from various faiths have for Typhoon Morakot victims.
Before Sunday's event, religious bodies in the island had already been providing relief supplies and donations for those in need. Now, Buddhists, Christians, and Taoists have joined hands in hopes that their prayers will reach people who died and those who lost loved ones. They say religion is important to rebuilding shattered lives.
Master Huichuan, from Kaohsiung County Buddhist Association, said, "We hope people will bid farewell to sorrows, face the future, and rebuild their lives and confidence."
