The bureau forecasts Koppu will move northwestwards and enter Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region this evening. Schools in Shenzhen and shipping services across the southern Qiongzhou Strait have been suspended.
In Hong Kong, ferry services have been cancelled and the city's observatory has issued strong wind and storm signals. Some flights have also been affected.
