The Contemporary Chinese Movie Exhibition kicked off in Russia on Friday. And "Nuan," one of the first productions presented at the event, found a warm reception with the local viewers.
Over the course of nine days, the Contemporary Chinese Movie Exhibition will present six productions at theaters in Moscow and Kazan. The movies selected include established classics as well as more recent blockbusters such as "The Assembly," "Forever Enthralled," "Yip Man," and "Perhaps Love."
"Nuan," by filmmaker Huo Jianqi, received enthusiastic response upon its screening last Saturday.
Huo Jianqi, director of "Nuan", said, "I am very delighted to have my movie screened in Russia. Through the story, I hope to give Russian moviegoers a sense of the feelings and emotions of contemporary Chinese society. I hope the movie will promote their understanding of China. I find it an honor that they appreciate the story."
"Nuan" is a love story set in a rural area of China. While exploring the strong emotions within the seemingly commonplace romance, the movie takes time to present a cross section of rural life in contemporary China. The film also features age-old cultural traditions and picturesque natural landscape.
At the 2003 Tokyo International Film Festival, "Nuan" won the best picture award.
