This year's China-ASEAN expo has arranged more activities than previous years. Agricultural products are taking the spotlight this year, showcasing cooperation in various fields.
This year's expo has attracted more than 24 hundred companies from 10 countries in the ASEAN region and 50 thousand merchants from around the world. More than 4-thousand booths have been set up to accumulate the 21 percent increase from the last session. Buyers from the US, France and Italy also applied to attend the expo. The construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area is expected to be completed in January of next year. This year's exhibiting commodities had various free trade themes.
Zheng Junjian, Director of Int'l Expo Affairs, Guangxi said "Cooperation between China and EU members has great potential in trade, electricity appliances, machine equipment, agricultural products and building materials. So we will strengthen our energy to attract more businesses. This year's exhibiting products are better than previous years."
Agriculture has become a key component of China-ASEAN cooperation. It is a sector that will see zero tariffs starting early next year. So this year's expo has added special booths, dedicated to agriculture, and financial services. The main venue exhibits agricultural products from ASEAN countries and the branch venue exhibits agricultural products from China, totaling about 850 booths.
Wang Lei, Deputy Secretary-General, China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat said "This year, there are 50 Taiwan-funded companies attending the expo. They are exhibiting traditional foods."
During the expo, the public will be allowed to enter the "agriculture venue". The main venue will be open to the public on October 24th.
