To the United States now where raising awareness about social issues can be difficult as people struggle through a recession. However, an event in New York City demonstrates what you might call a "can" do spirit when it comes to bringing attention to all the people who go hungry every day in the Big Apple.
From portraits sketched out of food cans, to tunnels built from sardine tins, each year "Canstruction" challenges New York architects to create innovative designs and structures using just food cans.
The cans cannot be emptied and the labels must remain on so the nutritious food inside can later find its way to the dinner table.
Tape and glue can be used to help keep the teams' creations from falling apart or toppling over.
