DPRK reports its first cases of A/H1N1 flu

Staying with the DPRK the nation says it is prepared to cooperate with the World Health Organization to circumvent an outbreak of A/H1N1 influenza.
Pyongyang's official media announced its first cases of the flu on Wednesday, December 9th.
Six children in the border city of Sinuiju, and three children in the capital Pyongyang, have been infected with the flu.
Pak Myong Su, Secretary-General, DPRK Anti-Epidemic Committee, said, "We have informed the World Health Organization (WHO) of the situation and have asked the WHO to cooperate with our government to prevent an outbreak of the flu."
The WHO office in Pyongyang received supplies of Tamiflu earlier this year.
The DPRK's official Korean Central News Agency said on Wednesday that a quarantine system was in place to fight the A/H1N1 flu.
District clinics are distributing information about the threat of the new flu strain, and giving advice on precautions.
South Korea offered to help the DPRK combat the flu, and Seoul today said the DPRK had accepted the offer.
Details of how South Korea will deliver the aid have not yet been announced.
