It's that special time of year when Chinese have a special enthusiasm for the twelve zodiac animals. Many people are searching far and wide to buy various tiger mementos to decorate their homes, ahead of the lunar new year, which falls on February 14th this year.

It's so evident that the tiger is the pet of 2010 in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province. Toys, calendars, and home decorations with tiger images are selling very well at local shops.

The tiger is traditionally considered auspicious by Chinese. They believe the king of the jungle is vigorous and will bring peace. The animal is also the traditional guardian of wealth.
