Single women in China are under more pressure than men to tie the knot, according to findings from a new survey. The survey found that more than two-fifths of single women feared they would never marry.
Women's rights group, All-China Women's Federation, interviewed more than two million people over three years for the survey. The average age of respondents was 30.
Forty-one percent of women said they worried they would never marry, compared to just 8 percent of males. But dateless doesn't mean desperate with 45 percent of women saying they wouldn't lower their standards for men just to find a husband.
Nearly ten percent of interviewees said unhappy marriages of acquaintances had a negative impact for them. The economic downturn and climbing housing prices also concerned many respondents.
