Cold weather is continuing to sweep through Northern India. Nearly 300 people have been killed so far. Most of them are homeless and poor people.
In the capital of New Delhi, dense fog took its toll on transportation. Trains to northern parts of the country have been cancelled. The minimum temperature is hovering at six degrees Celsius, several notches below normal. In the northern city of Rajasthan, fog and mist eclipsed city life in the early hours.
Local residents are complaining at the government's response, saying it should arrange dry wood for heating to ward off the cold. And in Indian-controlled Kashmir, heavy snow has brought the region's transport to a standstill. Forecasters say the cold weather will continue for the next two days.
