Pawn shop opens in Beijing shopping center

Pawn shops, where people can get cash by mortgaging their goods, are usually found in discrete locations along the streets in China. But a new pawn shop is now open in a big shopping center in Beijing.
At a large shopping center in Beijing, a new pawn shop draws attention from the mall patrons. It's the first such shop to be opened in such a location.
A customer said, "I think it is very peculiar. Because most such shops are located in the out of the way places or along the streets where the shopping facilities are not good. I come more often to the shopping centers."
However, people say they are interested in the unredeemed goods, which include brand new jewels, gold, electronic goods and name brand watches.
A customer said, "The prices are cheaper and I will buy if the quality is guaranteed."
A customer said, "The goods here are real and I can set my heart at ease and they have advantages on prices. "
The pawn shops are said to give customers more choices.
Yang Yong, deputy chairman of Beijing Pawn Association, said, "It is a new experiment for the pawn sector to come to the shopping center which aims to offer more convenience for customers."
Besides selling the unredeemed goods, the pawn shop also offers a mortgage service allowing customers get cash.
