A Czech ballet troupe has impressed a packed audience at Beijing's Mei Lanfang Theater with their rendition of "The Nutcracker". The National Ballet Theater of Prague followed up their performance of composer Tchaikovsky's traditional masterpiece with another contemporary show.
Performers opened Saturday night's show with a series of excerpts from "The Nutcracker". They then performed a contemporary ballet show choreographed by Czech artist, Jiri Kylian. Consisting of 65 dancers from around the world, the National Ballet Theater of Prague has gained a strong following in Europe for their diverse repertoire. The troupe will later head to eastern China's Shandong Province where they will perform another two shows. The group's tour in China is a component of the Meet In Beijing Art Festival.
