The World Health Organization has focused on women for the theme of Monday's "No Tobacco Day". The move follows a recent Chinese report that found more tobacco companies are targeting women in their marketing campaigns.

The report from China's Tobacco Control Office said companies were marketing "light" and "fruit-flavored" cigarettes to women, who account for a third of China's smokers. Female smokers face even more health hazards than males, including increased risk of menstrual disorders and breast cancer. The report called for government intervention, such as restrictions on tobacco advertising, to prevent a surge in female Chinese smokers.
