South African police at the Royal Bafokeng ground have locked down the stadium ahead of the England-USA match.

Security at the World Cup tournament is a major concern of the organizers and there is particular focus on the England versus United States game. Pedestrians are searched as they entered the stadium compound and the air around the stadium at Phokeng, near Rustenburg, is patrolled by police and military helicopters on a regular basis. Both the government and soccer's governing body FIFA, which is cooperating with foreign security agencies and Interpol, have said no viable threat has been identified.
