The ongoing Shanghai Film Festival is not only a good occasion for films to compete, but it's also a launching pad for them to promote themselves ahead of the upcoming summer movie season. So, let's take a look at some of the new flicks that will be released soon in China.

"The Dream of Jin Sha" is set in the mysterious Jin Sha kingdom, that existed in southwest China some 35-hundred years ago. The hero, Little Dragon, teams up with the Jin Sha people and an elephant god to avert a disaster that would destroy the kingdom. The film's theme is that humans should live harmoniously with nature and animals.

"The Dream of Jin Sha" will be released in China in July.

"The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec" is from French director Luc Besson. It's his twelfth feature-length film.

Adapted from a cartoon best seller, the picture tells of an intrepid young journalist, Adele, who single handedly breaks into an Egypt pyramid in an effort to awake her comatose sister.

The movie opens in China on August the 3rd.

Also promoted at the Shanghai Film Festival is the comedy "Careless." The film stars mainland comedian Liu Hua, Hong Kong actress Fann Wong, and mainland actress Miao Pu.

The plot revolves around a pair of lovers who are about to break up and discard many of their belongings, which might be an unexpected treasure for the trash man.

The comedy will be in theaters on August 15th.

Also promoted at the Shanghai Film Festival is an animated version of Hong Kong director Stephen Chow's CJ 7, and comedy "Flirting Scholar" starring Huang Xiaoming and Zhang Jingchu. They, too, will be released during the summer movie season.
